Unpaid attorney taxes for 2014 are now considered delinquent

Each attorney practicing in the City of Decatur is responsible for a $425 annual occupational tax. The deadline for the 2014 lawyer tax was December 30, 2014, with a grace period for penalties and interest through March 31, 2015. Our Revenue Division has attempted to collect payment on all accounts through invoices and reminder notices, but several lawyers still owe the tax. The 2014 debt is now 90 days overdue. The Revenue Division has now added a 10 percent penalty to the amount owed for 2014.
